Organizers of the Dubai Expo 2020 recently informed that the construction o all the design elements of the expo is well under way. Majority of the construction is at the verge of completion. In fact, the foundations of the three districts are complete, with buildings currently being built. Furthermore, construction of the Sustainability Pavilion, which was designed by Grimshaw Architects, is “well underway and due to be completed by October 2019.”
As 170 countries prepare to take part in the expo, over 14.5 million work hours have been completed at the site, with 6,100 cubic meters of concrete laid each week. Moreover, a total of 85 kilometers of pipe have already been laid for site infrastructure works.
Several UAE based companies like Al-Futtaim Carillion, Khansaheb, Besix, Arabtec, Tristar Engineering and Al Naboodah Construction are supervising construction at the site.
While tender for construction were awarded in 2017, tendering process for management, food and beverage, fragrances and luxury items is still under process.
