The first snow park attraction which is to be built in Oman is all set to open later this year, sited in the Mall of Muscat.
The Al Jarwani Group is developing the venture, in partnership with Tamani Entertainment and Dutch company Unlimited Snow, both specialised in the leisure and entertainment sector.
Chairman of Al Jarwani Group, Sheikh Mahmood Al Jarwani said, “What makes the Mall of Muscat’s snow park really special and unique is that it is totally different from any other snow park concept in the region, in terms of combining the latest snow technology, incredible attention to detail, plus the number of rides it offers. It will also provide job opportunities to Omanis and will be one of the key tourist attractions in the Sultanate.”
Situated on the third level of the Mall of Muscat, construction of the 5,600m2 venture began in 2015 and is scheduled top open in fourth quarter of this year. The chemical-free snow and ice will be produced after visiting hours, and the park will have a completely automated melt-water recycling system, providing a fresh layer of snow daily. There will also be an artificial snow fall during inauguration hours.
An Alpine-style village will form the centrepiece while a snowmobile track will weave its way through the simulated mountain landscape. Other attractions will include snow scooters, an ice climbing wall, bumper cars, a carousel, slides, a snowball arena, a theatre, and an ice skating rink.
