Saudi Arabia announces new horse racing championship with prizes worth $17million

A new horse racing championship named,   King Abdulaziz Horse Championship will start son in Saudi Arabia.

With Saudi Arabia making efforts to grow its own sports industry, the horse racing championship will rival the Kentucky Derby in size and attract competitors from the United States, the United Kingdom and Japan. Additionally, the General Sports Authority revealed the tournament will have prizes totaling to a whopping $17 million which will make the event one of the sports richest.

The General Sports Authority said in their statement, that the championship was way for the desert kingdom to share its “historic and cultural legacy” with the world.

However the authorities have not yet announced a date for the beginning of the sports event.
