A prototype of drone capable of doing all the activities much more than a camera is revealed by Boeing. The company assigned the engineers to design and build a cargo drone. They came up with a prototype which can haul 500lbs of goods.
The vehicle is huge and much larger than anything DJI sells. the specifications are : it weighs about 747 pounds, length being 15 feet, width of 18 feet and height of 4 feet. Four arms hold two props each. Boeing engineers took three months to completely finish this prototype. It just completed its test run at Boeing’s research lab in Missouri.
Greg Hyslop, Boeing chief technology officer said in a statement that, “This flying cargo air vehicle represents another major step in our Boeing eVTOL strategy.” He also added, “We have an opportunity to really change air travel and transport, and we’ll look back on this day as a major step in that journey.”
The company is yet to release the official flight capabilities including range or speed. They said that these things will be done to the actual drones used in the market and not to this prototype since it is just a test bed for technologies which will lead to cargo and vehicle drones.
